So you want your interns to effectively counsel patients...

Do they feel ready?

Counseling training can be limited in supervised practice.

While you may have been taught the basics of counseling and gotten some practice in your internship, there are many skills and techniques needed to be effective in the real world. This makes future and new dietitians lack confidence to counsel clients and patients on their own!

Available to dietetics programs only.

We're solving that problem.

All Access Dietetics is thrilled to partner with Molly Kellogg, a Psychotherapist and Registered Dietitian, to offer REAL WORLD COUNSELING and help dietetics program directors provide their interns with the training they need to become more effective nutrition counselors.

Available to dietetics program directors only.

With Real World Counseling your interns will...

Who is this for?

Dietetics program directors looking to provide their interns with a nutrition counseling training that can improve their counseling skills and prepare them for a rotation, job, or business where 1-on-1 counseling is involved.

What's included in Real World Counseling?

Creator, Molly Kellogg, RD, LCSW shares her wisdom on how to be an effective counselor through video trainings, worksheets, real-life exercises, and success stories.

The focus here is on the basic skills that are the foundation of quality nutrition counseling.

Real World Counseling includes: Nine topics, each with a video webinar, notes and practical articles. Suggested discussion topics and a quiz are provided for each section. Four units have either a session video or audio included. There are also brief “success stories” provided by practicing dietitians in many of the units.

Here's what Molly's students are saying...

“I have been enjoying this training and have learned many useful skills sets for counseling. Among all materials, I found “reflecting” to be most useful. I learned that reflecting involves active listening and encouraging accurate information exchange. It also provides an opportunity for counselors to catch a breath when we feel clueless. Thank you for providing this wonderful course!”
Ziming (Jamie) Dou, Tufts University MS/DI

“I really appreciated the sample phrases in each lesson as well as the recorded sample patient interactions. I have received prior education on motivational interviewing in both my undergraduate program and in my internship so completing these models reinforced my learning. I will continue to practice motivational interviewing during my rotations and as a registered dietitian in clinical practice.”
-Alexis Anderson, Francis Stern Nutrition Center DI

“The most useful part I found is the case scenarios! I’ve learned about Motivational Interviewing (MI) in my DPD program, but at that time I had no sense of how a session should be like using MI. All the techniques such as reflection, summary, row with resistance, I saw how they would turn out in a real counseling session. The case dialogues in this module definitely help me to understand that better. This is also the part I enjoyed the most!”
-Claire Cheng, Tufts University MS/DI

“I really benefitted from the scenarios and case examples. Being able to see or hear real-life situations makes it easier for me to understand. I also appreciated the reference material provided throughout the course. I plan to go back and review these more in the future.”
-Rachael Moorhouse, DTR

“Going into my dietetic internship, I had no experience in counseling patients. The in-depth video webinars, articles, and quizzes helped me feel more confident building rapport and counseling patients in my community rotation. I highly recommend this course to dietetic interns!”
-Paulina Serowik, Illinois State University
